PostgreSQL not quitting on akonadictl stop?

Martin Steigerwald
Hi!

% akonadictl stop

wait… wait… wait… wait…

% ps aux  | grep "[p]ostgres"
martin   26084  0.0  0.1 213892 26660 ?        S    19:23   0:00 /usr/lib/postgresql/11/bin/postgres -D /home/martin/.local/share/akonadi/db_data -k/tmp/akonadi-martin.wTqoXj -h
martin   26088  0.0  0.0 213892  3948 ?        Ss   19:23   0:00 postgres: checkpointer
martin   26089  0.0  0.0 213892  5816 ?        Ss   19:23   0:00 postgres: background writer
martin   26090  0.2  0.0 213892  9108 ?        Ss   19:23   0:00 postgres: walwriter
martin   26091  0.0  0.0 214300  6528 ?        Ss   19:23   0:00 postgres: autovacuum launcher
martin   26092  0.0  0.0  68940  4872 ?        Ss   19:23   0:00 postgres: stats collector
martin   26093  0.0  0.0 214292  6732 ?        Ss   19:23   0:00 postgres: logical replication launcher

Anyone else seen this?

It goes away with a SIGTERM on "/usr/lib/postgresql/11/bin/postgres"
process.

Are these left over processes that PostgreSQL would reuse when being
started again by "akonadictl stop"? Or would I risk PostgreSQL running
*twice* when starting Akonadi again?

Thanks,

Martin

I don't see it.  Everything closes down on my system.

Works for me just fine. Can you check if the Akonadi Server maybe crashes on
shutdown, which would prevent it from stopping the DB server?

It does not seem to crash.

I added my findings to:

Bug 386173 - akonadictl stop does not shut down database
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=386173#c3
